This is a
WeiDU-based dialog revamp version of the original mod. Please contact me at Spellhold Studios
if you are interested in providing a different translation for this mod. This is only compatible with BGT-WeiDU
and DSotSC v195 or greater & NTotSC v155 or greater. It can be installed anytime after you
have installed NTotSC. This version
will NOT work with BGT-BP and it will not work with BGT-WeiDU if you didn't add
TotSC.
As with many of
the other Baldur's Gate players who have previously attempted to play through
the original version of NTotSC and failed miserably, I was entirely frustrated
with a lack of direction in playing Northern Tales of the Sword Coast, so I
decided to go through it and revamp the dialogs, and add numerous triggers and
re-translate many of the more confusing "English" translations in
order to make them more understandable, and to make it simpler to progress
through the many quests provided by this great modification. I'm hopeful that
this revamp will provide players with a mod that the player may actually
complete, without becoming hopelessly mired in variables that don't get set, or
other occurrences that just plain don't make any sense whatsoever.
This mod is in
WeiDU format. To install, unzip the
.rar archive to your game folder and double-click on Setup-NTotSCv163.exe. To uninstall, double-click on
Setup-NTotSCv163.exe again and select the Uninstall option.
DSotSC must also be installed before NTotSC. This mod also works with BG1NPC and
SoBH.
Walkthrough
§
Haeball - Haeball
is looking for two items, a Goblin Bow and the Great Book of Unknowing. The bow is north of Baldur's Gate
in some woods. The book's quest requires you to talk to
Hasdar in BG.
§
Wenric - Wenric
is the farmer near BG that you clear out the zombies for. He will tell you about the Field of the
Dead, an orc covered area north of BG.
§
Winorma & Magnad - Winorma and Magnad are now
in BG because some orcs attacked their caravan. Their children were captured and are now
prisoners in the Field of the Dead north of BG.
§
Yness - Yness'
husband, Pandris, was captured by orcs.
He can be found in the Field of the Dead.
§
Northern Citadel - Duke
Eltan gives you this quest. You
need to go north to the citadel and find out what the problems are.
§
Welt & Poochy - An
ogre near the docks wants some rat tails for his dog. You will find plenty in the sewers.
§
Shaella - A
really psycho woman near the Sorcerous Sundries wants you to find a book in the
Candlekeep crypts. You have to talk
to her before leaving for Candlekeep since you will have no way to do this
later. (Mental Note*** You will run into Shaella
masquerading as Elnaedra in the Blade and Stars in an unmodded game. Her dialog
has no bearing on the outcome of the Great Book of the Unknowing Quest, so
ignore her.)

TeamBG for starting all of this.
Aurelinus, Hathor, and the wonderful people at Forgotten Isle
(http://www.isle.px.pl/index_eng.htm) who made this mod and then translated it
to English. This is their wonderful
work. I hope my updates will sit well with them as well.
